This beautiful book arrived the other day and I’m finding it hard to put down. It’s written by Boston (US)-based photographer and writer Betty Liu, who grew up eating home-style Shanghainese food.
As you can see, there are lots of post-it notes earmarking recipes I have on my cooking agenda this weekend: seasoned
steamed eggplant, braised shiitake and tofu, and Mom’s Shanghai red-braised pork belly are definitely on the menu.
I was lucky enough to travel to Shanghai a few years back and this book is reigniting my thirst for travel...
I will report back soon with the results of my recipe-tests, so watch this space.
The book is out on 1 April published by Harper Design
