I'm incredibly pleased to say that I will be part of the judging panel for The British Guild of Beer Writers for this year's Awards.
Entries are now open and there are 14 categories covering just about every form of communication – from short-form to books, audio and video, and covering pubs, diversity in the industry and beer-related travel.
It's not just beer, but cider too, including The Susannah Forbes Award for Best Communication about Cider.
There's plenty of time to enter: entries must be received by the closing date of 9 August 2026, and work submitted must have been first published between 1 September 2025 and 9 August 2026.
Here's what the Guild says about the Awards:
"This year’s panel promises once again to uphold the highest standards of independence, fairness, and expertise in evaluating the finest writing and communication in the beer and cider industry."
My fellow judges are (clockwise from top centre on right-hand pic):
• David Jesudason - Current British Beer Writer of the Year
• Mex Ibrahim
• Susan Low
• Andy Parker - Current Brewer of the Year
• Kristiane Westray
• Rod White
• Lotte Peplow
• Katrina Mirpuri
• Aimee Harbison-Roper
• Steve Dass

I can't wait to read, see and hear about this year's entries.

I joined my mother on a tour of Deephaven Woods, and we both enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere. The staff answered every question thoughtfully and made us feel comfortable throughout the visit. The surroundings were peaceful, and residents looked relaxed in the shared spaces. Overall, it felt like a supportive community with a warm approach to care.
